Wellington High School is hosting two Palm Beach Catholic Forensic League debate tournaments this year: Saturday, September 17, 2011, and Saturday, January 14, 2012.
We will be needing a lot of assistance, in terms of adult and student volunteers on-site, seeking donations in advance. Every varsity and novice debate student is expected and required to assist along the way, including the days of the actual tournaments. This will count as volunteer hours, as well as a tournament credit.
It is very important that we get as many volunteers as possible. We will have various shifts on Saturday mornings/afternoons.

MINIMUM VOLUNTEER NEEDS (will be in shifts):

  • 1 adult/2 students for concession stand
  • 1-2 adults monitoring access to judge lounge (no non-volunteer students allowed!)
  • 1-2 adults for staffing judge food tables
  • Multiple adults/students for lunch meal service in cafeteria
  • Multiple students to guide judges/contestants to rooms
  • Multiple students as hall/room monitors during rounds
  • 2 students for tournament operations (includes ballot running, tab room assistance, clerical assistance for ballot stuffing)

    We will need to provide several adult judges both days.

    We also need parents to send in food and supplies for us to serve or sell. Some of the items we could use include:

  • Beverages: Propel, Frapuccino, Red Bull, Vitamin Water, Izze, Arizona Tea, Gatoraid, Pepsi, Diet Pepsi, Mt Dew, Dr Pepper, Orange soda, Grape soda, Rootbeer, Water
  • Breakfast munchies and stuff: assorted muffins, assorted bagels, assorted cream cheese, (packets), orange juice, apple juice, grape juice, honey buns Snacks and Cookies: Kashi Go Lean, Sun Chips, Snyder's Pretzels, Cheezits or Goldfish, peanut butter crackers, Chewy Granola Bars, Pop Tarts, Oreos, Nutter Butter, Chips Ahoy, Famous Amos, Peanuts, Almonds, Cashews, Trail Mix, Potato chips, tortilla chips, Assorted Chips Candy: Sour Patch Gummys, Mentos, Skittles, Hershey Bars, Reeses, Twix, M&Ms, Misc Chocolate Bars, M&M Varieties, Milky Way, Butterfingers, 3 Musketeers, Snickers
  • Other stuff: Coffee set up, Tea, Fruit Platter, Yogurts, Veggie Platter 4lb w/ dip, Cheese Platter 2lb, Salsa, Grapes, Mini pastries, Mini quiches, Ciabatta rolls, Coldcut platter, Sandwich veggies (lettuce, tomato, onion, etc), Baby Carrots 5lb, Salad, Nonni Biscotti, Nonni Tusconi, Bagged apple slices, Baggies for carrots, Cookies Gourmet, Brownies
  • Paper goods, platters, bowls
  • Borrow coolers.

    If you are not able to help with the event, your donation of food would be gratefully appreciated. We cannot keep drawing on the same families to work. We raise money for the team as a whole, and it is our obligation as parents to help whenever possible in order to minimize the cost of traveling to some of the major competitions. The money we earn also goes toward the purchase of magazines, scripts, evidence, outside judges, etc.
