How Much Does Debate Cost?
Wellington's $50,000+ annual debate team budget is funded solely by the members of the program; therefore, the program is involved in fundraising activities. The more we raise, the less tournaments cost students and families. A $125 competition/dues payment is expected from each student competitor. This covers tournament registration fees for seven "local" Palm Beach Catholic Forensic League tournaments (which take place one Saturday a month in September, October, November, December, January, February and April) during the current school year, individual and program membership fees in the National Forensic League, National Catholic Forensic League, and Florida Forensic League, and subscriptions to magazines, newspapers, script purchases, literature, and other materials needed for the program. Other tournaments may cost more, depending on travel, overnight stays, tournament fees, meals, etc.
